What are Puppy Mills?

Image
What are Puppy Mills? By: Mithra Vasanthan What are Puppy Mills? Puppy mills are farms that help commercial dog breeders breed puppies. They are convenient for pet stores that want a wide variety of puppies to sell quickly.  Why are Puppy Mills Bad? Puppy Mills provide very poor conditions for puppies.  The puppies are locked up in wire cages and do not get clean food or water. The dogs can not be active and putting them in wire cages can injure them.  Are Puppy Mills Illegal? Although in some places puppy mills are illegal,  most mills are not. The state of Calafornia was the first state to ban puppy mills.  Pet stores in CA were only allowed to sell puppies from rescue shelters and organizations. Puppy mills are an example of animal cruelty.  Although there are a lot of puppy mills left,  many people are taking steps to stop  puppy mills.  Thanks for taking the time to read.
